Switches, Rrouters
Switch is a device designed to connect multiple nodes of a computer network within one or more local segments. Switches operate at the link layer of the OSI model and are used to improve network performance and efficiency by reducing traffic and eliminating collisions. They are also known as switches or hubs.
Router is a specialized device that forwards packets between different network segments based on rules and routing tables. A router can connect heterogeneous networks of different architectures. Information about the network topology and certain rules set by the administrator are used to make decisions about packet forwarding.
Routers operate on the "network" (third) layer of the OSI network model, unlike OSI L2 switches and hubs, which operate on the second and first levels of the OSI model, respectively.
